About "Sleight of Hand"

NOW AVAILABLE WORLD-WIDE on Amazon.com

The first book ever published of guitar arrangements for partial capo, by national guitar champion and acoustic string wizard HARVEY REID. First written in 1983, and expanded and revised later. Mostly traditional and classical, mostly fingerstyle, though there area couple interesting flatpicking arrangements including "Devil's Dream ." Fiddle tunes, blues, classical, and some well-known folk melodies like "Scarborough Fair" and "Shenandoah," plus a couple Reid originals, including his debut work for the partial capo in Esus, "Suite For the Duchess" from his legendary solo CD Solo Guitar Sketchbook

Written in TAB and standard notation, suitable for intermediate to advanced players. this book shows you how the partial capo changes the rules of what is possible on the guitar. Most tunes use standard tuning, though Reid's ingenious arrangement of Beethoven's Fur Elise is worth the price of the book. It is played in an open tuning with the partial capo, and allows a note-for-note way to play the piano piece, with an amazing number of open strings. There is no other way to play this piece without changing some notes.

Over 20 songs. Titles include "The Minuet in D" and "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" (Bach), "Für Elise" (Beethoven), "Suite: For the Duchess"and "E Modal Boogie" (Reid), "Pavanne" (Thoinet), "Scherzo" (Damas-Tarrega), "Shenandoah", "Devil's Dream", "Sally Goodin", "Scarborough Fair", "Greensleeves", "Flowers of Edinburgh", "The Red Haired Boy", "The Irish Washerwoman", "Simple Gifts", and "Farewell to Tarwaithe" (Trad.).
